Photographic historian and curator, Deborah Ireland, will give a series of a lectures on John Thomson and Isabella Bird in the lead-up to the tour John Thomson in China - A Photographic History, which Deborah is leading from 11 - 26 October 2025.

Women of Photography: A 24-Hour Conference-a-thon Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 on 8 March 2025. Deborah will talkabout Isabella Bird and how she published Views of the Far East during this free, online, global symposium.
John Thomson exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society - 25 April - 22 May 2025. Deborah will deliver a talk on John Thomson during this exhibition, which has been organised by the Thai Embassy and focuses on his Siam photography.
