The Travelling Surgical Society will be joining Cardiff University and Yantai University, China for a joint surgical conference in May 2025.

Yantai is a beautiful city in Eastern Shandong province, the most prosperous region in China.  Located on the coast, the region is famous for the quality of its cuisine (especially seafood) and wine. The hospital and medical school in Yantai are at the cutting edge of surgical practice and developments in medical education.  It will be a fascinating experience for British surgeons to see how Chinese colleagues train and practice. While the hospital visits and meetings take place in Yantai, there will be plenty of time to explore, with potential visits including a local vineyard or the Wine Museum.

The Travelling Surgical Society will also be visiting Beijing and Xi'an, with an optional extension to Shanghai via a 3-day Yangtze River Cruise.

This tour gives travellers the opportunity to experience many of China's exciting facets, contrasting modern, high-tech cities with the ancient history of Xi'an and the tranquil beauty of the Three Gorges.
